Zaporizhzhia State Medical and Pharmaceutical University was one of the first in Ukraine to start training specialists in the field of medical diagnostics and treatment technology.  Life itself suggested the need to open a new specialty because the requirements for the diagnosis of diseases are growing due to the development of medicine. Moreover, new laboratories and diagnostic centers are being created. Therefore, attractive employment prospects open up in Ukraine and abroad for graduates. Laboratory diagnostics in the modern world is developing rapidly.The Ministry of Health of Ukraine has recognized ZSMPhU as a leading higher education institution for training laboratory physicians. 

By laboratory tests specialists are able to detect pathologies at an early stage, monitor the course of the disease in order to prescribe treatment as effectively as possible. Students focus on studying the processes that take place in the human body. Due to the interdisciplinary nature of the specialty, anatomy, histology, physiology, pathophysiology, cytology, biochemistry and others are studied. Theoretical knowledge is necessary so that later it is possible to conduct research correctly and interpret their results. Practical professional trainings in laboratories of departments or in laboratories of hospitals and diagnostic centers are improved later. An unconditional advantage of students majoring in technology of medical diagnostics and treatment at ZSMPhU is the opportunity to study with the most qualified teachers in the university clinic. Its laboratories equipped with state-of-the-art automatic analyzers, microscopes, and other intelligent equipment that most health care organizations do not have. Laboratory doctor receives such a qualification as a partner of a clinician because the accuracy of the diagnosis and the choice of tactics of treatment of the patient are depended on his professional activity.  After completing your training, you can work in the following specialties: laboratory physician, bacteriologist, virologist, microbiologist-virologist, parasitologist, genetic laboratory physician, hygienist laboratory physician, and immunologist laboratory physician.
