Obstetrics and Gynecology, Anesthesiology and Intensive Care, Internal Medicine, General Practice/Family Medicine, Infectious Diseases, Emergency Medicine, Neurology, Orthopedics and Traumatology, Otorhinolaryngology, Ophthalmology, Pathological Anatomy, Psychiatry, Surgery, Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine, and others. The First Medical Faculty comprises 22 departments and enrolls approximately one thousand students.
During the first to third years, students study fundamental disciplines such as Human Anatomy, Histology and Embryology, Medical Biology, Medical and Biological Physics, Human Physiology, Microbiology and Virology, Biological Chemistry, Pathophysiology, Pathomorphology, Pharmacology, as well as courses in the social and humanitarian fields, including the Ukrainian language, foreign language of professional orientation, History of Ukraine, Philosophy of Medicine, and others. Second- and third-year students also study the basics of deontology and medical ethics, principles of patient care, and the fundamentals of examination methods and techniques on clinical departments. In the fourth to sixth years, students focus on clinical disciplines, including Internal Medicine, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Pediatrics, Surgery, and others.
Clinical departments are located in the university clinic, leading healthcare institutions, and research and diagnostic centers in the city of Zaporizhzhia. Practical skills are acquired and reinforced through interdepartmental training centers. Modern technologies and the latest equipment enable high-quality education and assist instructors in assessing the correct performance of medical procedures.
The Department of Anatomy hosts a summer school for early-year students, which enhances knowledge of human anatomy and fosters interdisciplinary connections. The strong academic staff of the First Medical Faculty, together with modern informational and material-technical resources for teaching, research, and clinical activities, ensures a high level of student training and the implementation of innovative pedagogical and medical technologies.
Students have the opportunity to participate in academic mobility programs, study and train at other higher education institutions, and take part in research projects and conferences both within Ukraine and abroad.
