ZSMPhU’s Scientific Summer: Experiments, Publications in Top Journals, and a Growing h-Index

Even amid a full-scale war, constant shelling of Zaporizhzhia, and extremely challenging working conditions, researchers at Zaporizhzhia State Medical and Pharmaceutical University continue to conduct research and publish their findings in leading scientific journals. Since the beginning of the year, 112 articles have been indexed in the international Scopus database. However, the impact of scientific research on the global scientific community is more important than the number of publications alone: ZSMPhU researchers’ articles are actively cited, and the University’s h-index has reached 40.

The geographical reach and high standing of the scientific journals in which ZSMPhU researchers’ studies have been published this year are particularly impressive. These include such internationally recognized journals as BMJ Global Health, Acta Diabetologica, Molecules, Critical Care, European Journal of Clinical Pharmacology, Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, American Journal of Cardiovascular Drugs, Journal of Integrative Neuroscience, European Journal of Heart Failure, and Clinical Hypertension. Publications in these journals demonstrate that ZSMPhU’s research covers a broad range of contemporary medical and pharmaceutical fields.

A notable example of international scientific collaboration is a publication in BMJ Global Health on the pilot implementation of HPV self-testing for cervical cancer screening in Ukraine during wartime. Zaporizhzhia State Medical and Pharmaceutical University conducted the study in collaboration with international partners, including Karolinska Institutet in Sweden. This is particularly significant for a university operating directly in the frontline city of Zaporizhzhia. Such research not only advances fundamental and applied scientific work but also contributes to the development of evidence-based solutions to challenges facing the healthcare system in wartime.

With 112 publications indexed in Scopus, an h-index of 40, and a presence in leading international medical journals, ZSMPhU has achieved significant results through the daily efforts of its researchers and their commitment to meeting the highest standards of global science.
