The training of foreign citizens in specialties "General Medicine" and "Pharmacy" has been carrying out in Zaporizhzhia State Medical and Pharmaceutical University since 1973. About 10,500 specialists have got medical and pharmaceutical education and are working now in more than 100 countries of the world, taking up high positions in the public health systems of their countries.
In 2021-2022 academic year, more than 3,500 foreign students from 37 countries study at the International Faculty No. 2. They are from Azerbaijan, Algeria, Bulgaria, Great Britain, Ghana, Ecuador, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Israel, India, Spain, Jordan, Cameroon, Canada, Kyrgyzstan, Columbia, Cote d'Ivoire, Lesotho, Lebanon, Libya, Madagascar, Maldives, Morocco, Namibia, Niger, Nigeria, Germany, Pakistan, Palestine, USA, Tajikistan, Tanzania, Tunisia, Turkmenistan, Turkey, and Uzbekistan. Mediums of instruction are Ukrainian, Russian and English.
English medium of instruction has been provided at the ZSMPhU since 2002. More than 2,000 foreign citizens study in English now.
Historical Reference
Zaporizhzhia State Medical and Pharmaceutical University occupies one of the leading positions in Ukraine in recruiting foreign citizens to study. Since 1973, more than 5,500 foreign students from 101 countries in Europe, Asia, Africa and America have been trained in Medicine and Pharmacy, and 40 graduates have completed postgraduate studies and successfully defended their dissertations. Since 2002, foreign language education at ZSMPhU has been conducted in English.
In 1973, a Faculty of Foreign Citizens Training was opened. In 1974, their studies at the Medical and Pharmaceutical faculties began.
In September 1976, a faculty was established to train foreign citizens in the following specialties: "General Medicine", "Pharmacy", "Pediatrics".
In September 1999, the Faculty of Foreign Citizens Training was renamed the International Faculty.
Since 2002, the Dean's office of the faculty has been headed by Ivan Melnyk.
