Historical Reference

In 1985, a Pediatric Faculty was opened in Zaporozhye Medical University.

In 1996, the Faculty of Pediatrics became part of the Medical Faculty of Zaporizhzhia State Medical University.

In 2010, the Medical Faculty was reorganized into Medical Faculties Nos. 1 and 2.

Since 2010 the Faculty is headed by Associate Professor Yurii Polkovnikov.

Teaching Staff

167 teachers work at the departments of the Faculty, among them: 21 professors, 5 doctors of sciences, 60 associate professors, 31 candidates of sciences.

The Institute of Human Pathology is successfully operating, the director is Professor Valerii Tumanskyi, Head of the Department of Pathological Anatomy and Forensic Medicine with Basics of Law.

Faculty Students

About 1,000 students study at the Faculty. Among them: nominal scholarship holders, nearly 10% are excellent students, almost half of them have only "Good" and "Excellent" grades. Every sixth student conducts research work as part of the Student Research Society. They present their reports at the final scientific conferences of the University, in other universities of the country and at international scientific conferences in other countries. Almost 100 students, co-authored with University staff, publish the results of their researches in specialized publications.

The best students undergo traineeship and practical training abroad in the summer (Poland, the Czech Republic, Bulgaria).

The Faculty has all the conditions for students' leisure. The sports club of the University has sections for classes in almost all sports. Students of the Faculty, visiting the sections, achieve good results and high sports ranks. Currently, there is one master and one candidate for master of sports among students.

More than a hundred students of the Faculty are active participants in amateur art.

The Faculty has a student dormitory, which has all the conditions for preparation for classes and recreation, a library and reading rooms, facilities, sufficiently equipped for cooking, and personal hygiene rooms.

Student self-government body, trade union organization of students and student councils of dormitories successfully operate at the Faculty.

Powerful human resources of the Faculty, modern information and logistical support of the educational process, as well as scientific and clinical activities allow to achieve a high level of training of students, masters, postgraduate students and doctoral students, and to introduce innovative pedagogical and medical technologies.
