Historical Reference
The Department of Toxicological and Inorganic Chemistry was founded in 1916.
Since 2009 the Department is headed by Professor Oleksandr Panasenko.
In January 2019 the Department was reorganized into the Department of Natural Science for Foreign Students and Toxicological Chemistry.
During the work of the Department 7 doctoral and 27 candidate works were defended.
Educational Disciplines
The following disciplines are taught at the Department: General and Inorganic Chemistry, Introduction into Pharmacy, Ethics and Deontology in Pharmacy, Toxicological Chemistry, Intellectual Property, Occupational Safety, Physics, Biology.
Educational and Methodical Work
The training of students at the Department is based on the principles of providing methodical and informational organization of the educational process with elements of independent work, as well as on the introduction of new effective forms of knowledge and skills control.
According to the educational programs, working programs in all disciplines have been created and are constantly updated with the involvement of modern information resources. Original lectures are given exclusively with the use of multimedia technologies. In practical classes, the material is presented using multimedia presentations and educational films.
The Deparment issued methodical recommendations for practical classes in all disciplines, in addition 32 textbooks on Inorganic and Toxicological Chemistry, History of Pharmacy and Cosmetology, Occupational Safety in Medicine and Pharmacy and Patent Science have been stamped by the Ministry of Education and Science and the Ministry of Health of Ukraine. The Central Methodical Council of ZSMPhU approved 91 textbooks on these subjects.
Employees of the Department published a textbook "Inorganic Chemistry", approved by the Ministry of Health of Ukraine.
Scientific Directions and Achievements
For the last 5 years 5 doctoral, 11 candidate and 50 diploma and Master's theses have been defended. 470 scientific articles were published, 54 patents of Ukraine were obtained, including those for inventions.
Cooperation with Other Institutions
The Department maintains close scientific ties with higher education institutions and research institutes of Kharkiv, Poltava, Lviv, Sumy, Kyiv, Dnipro, Minsk, Chișinău, as well as with scientists from the USA and Poland.
Advisory and Diagnostic Activities
Preclinical testing of 1,2,4-triazole derivatives is carried out on the basis of medical institutions of Poltava, Dnipro, Lviv, Kyiv.
Methods of forensic chemical examination of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs are tested on the basis of the Forensic Toxicology Unit of the Zaporizhzhia Regional Bureau of Forensic Medicine.
