In 2003-2009, traumatologists of the University together with Motor Sich OJSC performed a unique innovative project "Development and implementation of the first domestic knee joint endoprosthesis "Motor Sich EPK-1", which meets international standards and has a lower cost than foreign analogues.
In 2002–2004, the technology of manufacturing the first Ukrainian knee joint endoprosthesis "Motor Sich EPK-1" was developed. In 2005 the university received a patent of Ukraine for the knee joint endoprosthesis "Motor Sich EPK-1", as well as a certificate of state registration; clinical and technological researches were carried out, and the endoprosthesis was brought to industrial release.
In 2006, 76 patients were implanted with a domestic knee joint endoprosthesis "Motor Sich EPK-1".
Today, the knee joint endoprostheses "Motor Sich EPK-1" are implanted in patients in Ukraine.
