Knee Joint Endoprosthesis "Motor Sich EPK-1"

In 2003-2009, traumatologists of the University together with Motor Sich OJSC performed a unique innovative project "Development and implementation of the first domestic knee joint endoprosthesis "Motor Sich EPK-1", which meets international standards and has a lower cost than foreign analogues.

In 2002–2004, the technology of manufacturing the first Ukrainian knee joint endoprosthesis "Motor Sich EPK-1" was developed. In 2005 the university received a patent of Ukraine for the knee joint endoprosthesis "Motor Sich EPK-1", as well as a certificate of state registration; clinical and technological researches were carried out, and the endoprosthesis was brought to industrial release.

In 2006, 76 patients were implanted with a domestic knee joint endoprosthesis "Motor Sich EPK-1". Together with Motor Sich OJSC, a certificate of its compliance with the State Standard of Russia and a permit from the Federal Service for its implementation in Russia were obtained.

In 2007 at the VIII International Forum "High Technologies of the XXI Century" (Russia, Moscow) the university received an honorary award — a bronze "St. George" statuette — for the development of technology and implementation in the production of knee joint endoprosthesis.

In 2008 the university was awarded a gold medal for the development of technology and introduction into the production of knee joint endoprosthesis and a set of tools for its implantation at the IX International Forum "High Technologies of the XXI Century" (Russia, Moscow).

Today, the knee joint endoprostheses "Motor Sich EPK-1" are implanted in patients in Ukraine.
