Within the framework of ongoing cooperation with the international humanitarian organization Medicos del Mundo, the organization’s General Coordinator, Maria Pilar Duat Llorens, and the Regional Coordinator for Zaporizhzhia and Kharkiv regions, Serhii Perunov, visited Zaporizhzhia State Medical and Pharmaceutical University.
A meeting was held with Professor Yurii Kolesnyk, the Rector of the University, during which the parties discussed the initial results of their cooperation. Currently, ZSMPhU and Medicos del Mundo are successfully implementing a telemedicine project, “Support to the Primary Health Care System in Rural Areas of Kharkiv and Zaporizhzhia Regions, Ensuring Access to Primary Health Care and Family Doctor Consultations.” The project aims to improve access to primary health care for residents of local communities, in particular through the introduction of modern telemedicine technologies.
As part of the project implementation, medical equipment has been prepared for operation; specialists from ZSMPhU departments regularly conduct field visits to feldsher(Primary health care practitioner)-midwife stations; telemedicine consultation mechanisms and procedures for issuing medical conclusions using remote services are being established; on-site supervisions are organized; and explanations and guidance on the operation of systems and equipment are provided.
During the meeting, further steps for the development of the partnership and opportunities for deepening cooperation in the fields of medical education and health care delivery were also outlined. Among the immediate plans are the expansion of the project’s geographical scope, an increase in the number of participating medical institutions and telemedicine consultation areas, as well as the continued development of joint humanitarian and educational initiatives.
ZSMPhU will continue to consistently develop international partnerships and implement innovative solutions aimed at improving the quality of medical care in Ukraine and beyond.
