From January 19 to 23, 2026, a training program titled "University Press Publishing for Ukraine: Policy and Practice" took place in Oxford, United Kingdom, and was supported by the Oxford International Centre for Publishing. Zaporizhzhia State Medical and Pharmaceutical University was represented by Associate Professor Zhanna Ragrina, The Rector's Advisor on International Cooperation, who received a scholarship from Oxford Brookes University to cover the costs of participation in the event.
The program was aimed at enhancing the capacity of Ukrainian university research communities to integrate into the international academic space. During the training, participants worked with leading experts and representatives of international educational and publishing institutions, including Oxford Brookes, Princeton University Press, Oxford International Centre for Publishing & Journalism, Taylor & Francis, UK Research and Innovation (UKRI), Ingram Content Group, Crossref, Liverpool University Press, Springer Nature, and others. The combination of seminars, practical workshops, and visits to leading publishing organizations provided an in-depth understanding of current trends in academic work and publishing in the UK and Europe.
The knowledge gained and professional contacts established will support the implementation of best international practices in the university’s activities. Among the next steps are the development of partnerships and twinning projects with UK institutions, joint international publications, and strengthening collaboration with foreign organizations.
