On the occasion of the 35th anniversary of the Baltic University Programme (BUP), celebrated in 2026, the BUP Coordination Secretariat is organizing a series of thematic webinars dedicated to pressing issues of sustainable development across the Programme’s ten key thematic areas. The aim of these webinars is to bring together the BUP academic community to share knowledge, experiences, and best practices in the field of sustainable development. The events will feature lectures, seminars, workshops, and other interactive formats, accessible to a broad audience.
We invite students, PhD students, and colleagues to participate in the webinar “Human and Environmental Consequences of War in Ukraine: Short- and Long-Term Impacts,” which will take place online on 26 February 2026 at 15:00 Kyiv time. The webinar will examine the short- and long-term consequences of the war in Ukraine for people and the environment, as well as the challenges and prospects for sustainable development in the context of armed conflicts. Professor Oleksiy Kovalov, Head of the Department of Oncology, will deliver a presentation titled “War, Environment, and Cancer: Lessons from Ukraine.”
The event will include a lecture followed by a discussion, open to the wider BUP academic community.
