Meeting on the Prospects of Simulation-Based Medical Education at ZSMPhU
As part of the implementation of the Development Concept of Zaporizhzhia State Medical and Pharmaceutical University (ZSMPhU), an expanded working meeting chaired by the Rector was held to discuss the strategic development of simulation-based medical education and simulation medicine at ZSMPhU. The meeting brought together the University’s Vice-Rectors, Deans of Faculties, and heads of all structural units of the Interdepartmental Simulation and Training Center of ZSMPhU.
In October, in accordance with a Rector’s order, a unified system of the Interdepartmental Training Center of ZSMPhU was established, covering all areas of medical and pharmaceutical training at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Currently, the University operates an extensive network of interconnected simulation training centers, and the meeting focused on discussing the prospects for the further development of modern simulation technologies in medical education.
In his opening remarks, the Rector of ZSMPhU, Professor Yurii Kolesnyk, emphasized the importance and relevance of implementing advanced simulation-based learning methods for the training of healthcare professionals, and highlighted the need to develop unified standards for simulation-based training in medical and pharmaceutical education.
The Vice-Rector for Academic and Educational Affairs and Quality Assurance in Education, Associate Professor Svitlana Morhuntsova, stressed the necessity of developing a university-wide Concept of Simulation-Based Training at ZSMPhU, as well as integrated, cross-cutting programs for the development of practical clinical skills through simulation medicine across all educational programs.
The heads of all ten structural units presented information on the specific operational tasks of their departments, their conceptual approaches to simulation training, key achievements in practical skills development, and outlined prospects for the further advancement of simulation-based medical education.
As a result of the meeting, a decision was made to further expand all areas of application of simulation medicine in the educational process, to develop the Concept of Simulation-Based Training at ZSMPhU, and to organize a scientific and methodological conference on simulation-based medical education.
