A grant from the Institute for Human Sciences
Anton Horodokin, Associate Professor of the Department of Psychiatry, Psychotherapy, and Medical Psychology at Zaporizhzhia State Medical and Pharmaceutical University (ZSMPhU), has been awarded a grant from the international Documenting Ukraine program, implemented by the Institute for Human Sciences (IWM) in Vienna, Austria.
The Documenting Ukraine program was launched in March 2022 with the aim of creating a comprehensive documentary corpus of the Russian–Ukrainian war, focusing primarily on human experience and its interpretation within a global humanitarian context. The initiative aims to document, preserve, and interpret the events of the war, while also ensuring international access to these materials.
Within the framework of the program, IWM supports Ukrainian researchers, journalists, public intellectuals, artists, and archivists who are engaged in projects documenting the war through analytical research, the collection of source materials, oral testimonies, or artistic and intellectual reflection. All collected materials will form a complex interdisciplinary archive, regarded as an important part of Ukraine’s intellectual heritage.
The ZSMPhU research project examines and compares levels of anxiety and depression among students of higher medical education in Zaporizhzhia, Chernivtsi, as well as those residing in other regions of Ukraine and abroad. To date, 613 respondents have participated in the study, and preliminary results have been obtained.
The grant confirms the relevance of psychiatric and medical-psychological research conducted at Zaporizhzhia State Medical and Pharmaceutical University and highlights the contribution of the university’s academic community to the international understanding of the humanitarian consequences of the war.
