Preparing Future Doctors: Pediatric Clinical Training at ZSMPhU Berehove Campus

International students   studying at the Berehove campus of Zaporizhzhia State Medical and Pharmaceutical University in Zakarpattia region continue to gain valuable clinical experience. Throughout the pediatrics cycle, students built a solid theoretical foundation by following the semester’s structured curriculum and preparing  presentations. They enhanced their practical skills by working with virtual patients, analyzing pediatric case records, and completing thematic test assignments. Practical training took place at the Berehove Hospital named after Bertalon Linner in the pediatric department and the admissions and diagnostics unit.

Students examined patients with viral infections, pneumonia, acute and obstructive bronchitis, atopic dermatitis, insect allergies, and also examined newborns. They attended diagnostic procedures including X-ray examinations, ultrasound of the heart, abdominal organs, kidneys, and pregnancy, as well as CT and contrast-enhanced CT. Under supervision, students performed catheter placement, recorded and decoded ECGs, and interpreted laboratory results.

According to Olena Fedosieieva, PhD of the Faculty of Pediatrics Department, the Berehove campus offers an environment where theoretical knowledge is translated into practical clinical skills, allowing students to steadily build confidence in their professional abilities. With modern facilities, advanced educational approaches, direct patient access, and a dedicated teaching staff, the campus provides a solid foundation for medical students receiving high-quality training in Ukraine. The administration of Zaporizhzhia State Medical and Pharmaceutical University also pays close attention to creating safe, comfortable living conditions that support students’ well-being throughout their studies.
