ZSMPhU Students at the Physical Therapy Summit

ZSMPhU Students at the Physical Therapy Summit

In early October, the international summit AMPUTEE RENAB was held in the capital, focusing on a topic especially relevant to Ukraine — “A Comprehensive Approach to Physical Therapy in Amputations.”
Students from Zaporizhzhia State Medical and Pharmaceutical University, who are studying physical therapy — Illia Kornilov, Yevhen Vorobiov, and Yelyzaveta Mazur — participated in the forum.
The organizers of the summit aimed to provide participants with a structured system of knowledge and practical skills in the field of physical therapy, from preoperative preparation to the patient’s return to a full life. Among the speakers were American specialists, and participants also heard real-life stories of people who went through the journey from limb loss to prosthetic rehabilitation.
The discussions covered innovative areas such as pain and phantom pain management, approaches to alleviating chronic pain after amputation, rehabilitation of people with visual impairments who have undergone amputation, and many other techniques used in global practice to improve the quality of life of affected individuals.
The workshops and practical sessions were especially engaging, showcases of patient rehabilitation methods, demonstrations of robotics and bionic prostheses, Brain Robotics systems, and other innovations.
The ZSMPhU participants shared their overall impressions of the forum, emphasizing that they were especially inspired by the workshops, where they witnessed the remarkable possibilities of prosthetics, unique technologies, and tools that open up broad prospects for rehabilitation — not only for healthcare professionals but, most importantly, for patients recovering from trauma — rehabilitation without pain and with hope for a fulfilling life.
