High Evaluation of ZSMPhU by WHO Representatives

On October 2, 2025, Zaporizhzhia State Medical and Pharmaceutical University was visited by representatives of the WHO Regional Office for Europe and the WHO Country Office in Ukraine: Thomas Zapata, Dean Cairns, and Khrystyna Chaika.

The meeting was held within the framework of the Programme on Strengthening Health System Resilience in the Eastern Partnership Countries, funded by DG ENEST, and was dedicated to supporting the development of human capital in healthcare, particularly in assessing policies for retaining healthcare workers in Ukraine.

During the visit, special attention was paid to the entire cycle of medical workforce development—from medical education to the start of professional activity and long-term retention in the healthcare system.

The guests familiarised themselves with the university’s safety conditions, educational processes, and modern student training technologies and visited the OSCE Center and the Simulation Training Center, as well as the University Clinic. During the meeting, the prospects for the development of medical education, the importance of practical training for future doctors, and ways to enhance the motivation of young professionals to remain in the profession were discussed.

The visit of WHO representatives became an important step in strengthening international cooperation and confirmed the leading role of ZSMPhU in shaping a competitive health workforce for Ukraine’s healthcare system.
