Vyshyvanka Day Among International Students
Lecturers from the Department of Language and General Theoretical Training — Associate Professors Kateryna Heichenko and Olena Tsupikova, as well as Senior Lecturers Svitlana Hnatenko and Yuliia Kravchenko — together with international students, organized a celebration titled “Ukrainian Vyshyvanka – the Genetic Code of the Nation.” The World Vyshyvanka Day was celebrated vividly, particularly by Bulgarian students.
The lecturers introduced the international youth to the traditions of the Ukrainian people, explaining the significance of the vyshyvanka in fostering a sense of national pride in one's heritage and in Ukraine itself, as well as in developing aesthetic taste and creative thinking.
The students also learned about unique regional embroidery styles, how patterns can indicate the region of origin, and how names and historical events were encoded through the vibrant designs of traditional clothing.
The international students were impressed by a video presentation about the Ukrainian vyshyvanka, which is not just a fashionable element of clothing, but a genetic code of the nation that symbolizes the history, traditions, identity, and cultural heritage of the Ukrainian people.
