High Evaluation of the ZSMPHU Rector’s Performance

Rectors of higher education institutions under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine are required by law to report annually on the fulfillment of their contracts to the Ministry. A detailed report on the achievements of 2024—despite all the challenges caused by the university’s proximity to the front line and ongoing shelling—was presented to the Ministry’s commission for contract performance review by Professor Yurii Kolesnyk, Rector of Zaporizhzhia State Medical and Pharmaceutical University (ZSMPhU).

Throughout the year, a key priority at ZSMPhU was creating safe conditions for education and ensuring full in-person classroom learning for students who wish to study offline, and their number is increasing every month. All medical interns are studying 100% in person, actively utilizing the university’s unique network of medical simulation training centers. The implementation of advanced technologies and a strong focus on the quality of educational services give positive results, as evidenced by a steady increase in success rates in the standardized KROK licensing exams.

ZSMPhU has also demonstrated significant accomplishments in postgraduate education and medical practice, actively providing healthcare to both military personnel and the civilian population in the conditions of a frontline city. Over the past year, international cooperation has intensified considerably, and the university’s scientific reputation has grown stronger. A testament to this is the unique research project on HPV cancer screening, implemented in collaboration with Karolinska Institutet (Sweden). At the same time, the university continues engaging in dynamic and meaningful career guidance work aimed at sustaining student enrollment.

Given the university’s high-level achievements across all areas of activity, the Ministry’s commission gave a high evaluation to Professor Yurii Kolesnyk’s report.
