International Students Discussed Environmental Issues

On the occasion of Earth Day and Environment Day, the Department of Language and General Theoretical Training held a student conference on the topic "Earth—Our Common Home." The faculty guided international students to reflect on environmental protection and preservation issues. The online dialogue with students was led by the Head of the Department, Associate Professor Kateryna Heychenko, Associate Professor Olena Tsupikova, and Senior Lecturers Yuliia Kravchenko, Olha Chernovol, Svitlana Hnatenko, and Alona Repetun. The mentors supervised the preparation of the students' presentations.

The discussions covered the role of science in solving environmental problems, the causes of biosphere degradation, pollution of water and land resources, and the destruction of natural ecosystems—all of which negatively affect human health. Students were informed about the "Peace Bell on Earth Day" campaign, which unites people of goodwill in the pursuit of living in a clean environment, and they were encouraged to join it.

Student presentations sparked particular interest and active discussions. Second-year Moroccan students majoring in Dentistry spoke about the alarming state of the environment. Ait Salem Amal and Ait Salem Abdelmouhit shared their personal experiences of caring for nature. Student Enkaiui Hasnae, studying in Ukrainian, focused on real-life examples of environmental preservation.

Listeners from the Preparatory Department of the International Faculty—Lopez Satizabal Zaida Dayana and Pesantez Bravo Carlos Salvador from Ecuador, who study at the Berehove campus of ZSMPhU—raised awareness about protecting the planet, current environmental challenges, and ecological safety.

First-year student Karim Afia from Germany shared her thoughts on raising environmental awareness among the population. Third-year students Laklai Abdellah from Morocco and Enemchukwu Oniniechuwu Victori from Nigeria explored innovative approaches to comprehensive waste management solutions. The research presented by second-year student Chidem Nezhdetova Trampova from Bulgaria, third-year student Zerruki Kavtar, and other conference participants was also noteworthy.

All participants worked diligently on addressing the topic and demonstrated a strong sense of responsibility for environmental preservation. The event also provided valuable experience in communication, teamwork, and, of course, language practice.

At the end of the conference, participants received a booklet, a collection of conference materials, and certificates of appreciation.
