The Third International Symposium on Digital Dentistry at ZSMPhU

Today, the Third International Symposium on Digital Dentistry officially opened at Zaporizhzhia State Medical and Pharmaceutical University. The theme of this year’s event is: “Modern Digital Methods in Diagnosing and Monitoring the Effectiveness of Dental Disease Treatment.”

The symposium brings together experts to focus on digital technologies in dental diagnostics, evaluating treatment effectiveness at various stages, and approaches to patient rehabilitation.

Opening the event, ZSMPhU Rector Professor Yurii Kolesnyk welcomed the participants and thanked them for their interest in such a relevant and innovative topic. He emphasized that advancing digital technologies remains a key priority across all educational tracks at the university, and the dental departments actively support this direction.

Professor Kolesnyk highlighted the significance of this event during martial law in a frontline city. Despite the challenges, the university — including its medical and dental professionals — continues to operate fully: training students, interns, and postgraduates to engage in scientific research, and demonstrating strong civic responsibility. Among their recent initiatives is a remarkable project:

“Bringing Smiles Back to Our Heroes.”

As part of this campaign, ten Ukrainian servicemen received free dental implant surgeries and prosthetics across ten clinics, including the University Clinic and other city dental centers — all at the same time.

The rector acknowledged with gratitude the university’s faculty, symposium organizers, and international guests. He sincerely hoped that the ideas and experience shared during the forum would serve as an excellent learning platform for experienced professionals and young specialists.

The symposium has brought together Ukrainian and international professionals from a range of dental disciplines — therapeutic, pediatric, surgical dentistry, maxillofacial surgery, periodontology, prosthodontics, and orthodontics — as well as related medical fields. Speakers include leading experts from across Ukraine and countries such as Canada, Mexico, Germany, Azerbaijan, and others.

The organizers aimed to consolidate the best  Ukrainian and global experience in digital dentistry to benefit students, interns, and the broader dental community. They also wanted to showcase the achievements of ZSMPhU. Notably, the worldwide dental community has responded with strong support for Ukraine’s resilience and commitment to education.

One example is Bredent (Germany), a well-known company that has joined the event. The respected dental professional Serhii Radlynskyi, head of Apollonia (Poltava) will conduct a masterclass.

Each name on the participant list is a distinguished figure in the professional dental field. The university also welcomed top experts from leading clinics in Chernivtsi, Lviv, Ternopil, Kyiv, Poltava, and other Ukrainian cities.

Interest in the event is high — within minutes of the live stream going online, over 180 participants had already connected. The forum will continue tomorrow with further sessions.
