English-speaking international sixth-year students of the International Faculty, who began their studies in the spring and are now completing their training this December at Zaporizhzhia State Medical and Pharmaceutical University, are undergoing the final certification in the OSCE format.
The Dean of the International Faculty, Associate Professor Taras Ivanenko, stated that the students had previously passed the licensing exam KROK and completed a station-based examination on Body Interact scenarios. During the Certification, foreign students as well as Ukrainian final-year students, must demonstrate their knowledge in internal medicine, surgical diseases, obstetrics and gynecology, pediatrics, as well as hygiene, social medicine, and public health. These examinations involve faculty members from all departments that taught these students. At the OSCE Center, where the exam took place, the examiners included professors from the departments of internal diseases and surgical disciplines.
The Chair of the Certification Commission, Head of the Department of Internal Medicine No. 3, Professor Serhii Dotsenko, highlighted the coordinated process: in six training rooms, examiners and moderators were stationed, while students were required to pass two stations during the first exam—one in internal diseases and another in surgical diseases. Students randomly selected their tickets, prepared, and presented their responses to the commission.
According to the professor, the tasks were thoroughly worked on during the preparation for the Certification. Students reviewed emergency conditions for each discipline, modeled clinical cases, and analyzed patient care algorithms. In this way, students confirm their readiness to make decisions, thereby demonstrating the level of knowledge gained during six years of study.
