Zaporizhzhia Pharmaceutical Forum — 2024

The Zaporizhzhia State Medical and Pharmaceutical University (ZSMPhU) has launched a two-day All-Ukrainian Scientific and Practical Conference with International Participation — Zaporizhzhia Pharmaceutical Forum—2024." The forum is being held in a virtual format on the Microsoft Teams platform and features leading experts across various fields of pharmacy in Ukraine.
The conference opened with a welcoming address from the head of the organizing committee, the Rector of ZSMPhU, Professor Yuriy Kolesnyk. He emphasized that, despite the challenges posed by martial law and the ongoing war, the university has continued to operate successfully. He highlighted the value of this traditional pharmaceutical forum, which unites participants from across Ukraine to address pressing issues in the pharmaceutical field and strengthen collaboration in pharmacy education and industry innovation. The Rector expressed gratitude to pharmacy professionals for their close cooperation with the university in training qualified specialists for the industry and voiced hope for continued fruitful cooperation.
Participants were also greeted by Tamara Lytvynenkova, Chair of the Board of the Pharmaceutical Association of the Dnipropetrovsk Region, and Oleksandr Chanchykov, Chair of the Board of PJSC "Viola." On behalf of the organizers, the Deputy Dean of the First Pharmaceutical Faculty of ZSMPhU, Associate Professor Liudmyla Cherkovska, addressed the forum attendees.
The forum featured a report by Professor Serhii Ubohov, Head of the Department of Medical Staff, Education, and Science of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine. His presentation focused on the strategic directions for developing pharmaceutical education in Ukraine.
During the plenary session on the first day, participants attended engaging presentations by scientists from Jurmala (Latvia), the National University of Health Protection of Ukraine named after P. L. Shupyk, the National Pharmaceutical University, the Lviv National Medical University named after Danylo Halytskyi, and the Ternopil National Medical University named after I. Horbachevsky.
A particularly relevant presentation was delivered by Vladyslav Danko, Head of the Postgraduate Education Department of the Kherson Basic Medical College. His report, titled "Modern Issues of Controlled Substance Circulation," shed light on the state of the pharmaceutical sector in a region severely affected by enemy aggression, yet resiliently opposing it.
Scientists from ZSMPhU also presented their research at the forum. Notable presentations were given by Professor Oleksandr Kremzer of the Department of Clinical Pharmacology, Pharmacy, Pharmacotherapy, and Cosmetology, and another by Professor Oleksii Ryzhov, Head of the Department of Medical and Pharmaceutical Informatics and Advanced Technologies.
Topics such as social responsibility in pharmacy, the impact of medications on treating patients with ischemic heart disease and comorbid conditions, and others were discussed with a focus on relevance and innovation.
Even more engaging discussions are expected on the forum's second day. Professors of pharmaceutical departments at ZSMPhU will chair the two planned sections, which will include a variety of scientific presentations from university academics.
