El Youssef Mohammad, a 5th-year medical student at the International Faculty of Zaporizhzhia State Medical and Pharmaceutical University (ZSMPhU), is currently attending the Anesthesiology and Intensive Care, Emergency States cycle in auditorium format.
The course instructor is Serhiy Hryhoriev, a candidate of Medical Sciences and Assistant Professor at the Department of Anesthesiology and Intensive Care. Mohammad is in the training room of the Scientific-Educational and Clinical Training Center, where he practices applied medical skills. Here, he has learned to insert an intravenous catheter, perfect techniques for opening airways in unconscious patients, and other resuscitation procedures related to the curriculum.
Dr. Serhiy Volodymyrovych praises Mohammad’s diligence, meticulousness, and eagerness to learn. Mohammad often seeks extra communication beyond class hours, arrives early, and always comes prepared with a wealth of questions. This level of engagement impresses the professor. According to him, this student is on the path to becoming an excellent physician.
The training cycle lasts for nine days, with four academic hours each day. Ahead, international students will master critical areas of anesthesiology and intensive care, such as managing acute respiratory failure, addressing cerebral circulation disorders, treating acute coronary syndrome, handling myocardial infarction, dealing with thromboembolism, managing severe hemorrhage, and performing emergency interventions for shock and traumatic injuries.
While in-person learning, as practiced by Mohammad, proves more effective, the department ensures that students from distant countries attending remote sessions can review and revisit the material at their own convenience. A dedicated online chat provides access to manuals, illustrations, and videos related to the course content. Students' knowledge will be assessed through interviews and test-based evaluations.
