This year, the fifth-year students of ZSMPhU underwent a summer internship at the Białystok Medical University (Poland). The internship is organized within the framework of a bilateral agreement between the Medical University in Białystok and the Zaporizhzhia State Medical and Pharmaceutical University. It was a great opportunity to gain experience with Polish doctors and communicate with them.
The fifth-year students are full of impressions. They gladly share their thoughts and feelings.
Hanna Reida: "I had a medical practice in the neurological department of the Białystok hospital. I liked the practice, it was a valuable experience for my future work. My supervisor and other doctors in the department were friendly and kindly answered neurology questions. It was very nice to study in such a pleasant atmosphere. I had the opportunity to visit the neurological intensive care unit, the inpatient department, and the admission department. I observed and conducted a neurological examination, took blood from the femoral artery, and learned the operation of medical equipment. I was lucky to see many interesting clinical cases and get the experience of foreign colleagues.
I am very grateful to ZSMPhU for the great opportunity to enrich my knowledge and gain new practical skills."
Kateryna Detyukova: "I want to share my experience of an international practice in the intensive care unit of the university hospital in the city of Bialystok. I had the opportunity to work in an environment where every day was full of new challenges and required maximum concentration, knowledge, and skills.
The clinic is distinguished by the high level of professionalism of the staff and modern equipment, which provide the best medical care to small patients. During the internship, I learned to work with various complex clinical cases, participate in multidisciplinary consultations, and make quick and effective decisions in critical situations.
I would especially like to note the friendly and inspiring atmosphere in the team. Colleagues communicated freely in English and were always ready to share their experiences and help in any situation. Thanks to their support, I was able to develop my professional skills and feel confident in performing various manipulations. This experience became an important step in my professional growth and motivated me for further development. I am very grateful to my university for the opportunity to undertake a internship in one of the best Polish hospitals."
Olga Bobrovska: "The internship at the Białystok Medical University enriched me with extremely valuable experience that significantly deepened my professional knowledge and skills. I had the opportunity to work in the Department of Clinical Laboratory Diagnostics, where I got to know the work of several specialized departments: general clinical, hematology, parasitology, biochemistry, and immunoserology. All laboratories are equipped with the latest automatic analyzers. For example, in the general clinical department, I got to see the basics of analysis of general clinical samples. It was possible not only to observe the process but also to perform certain stages of work under the guidance of experienced laboratory assistants. This allowed me to understand the importance of accuracy and attention to detail in laboratory research.
The Practice in the hematology department deepened my knowledge about blood tests, in particular, the morphology of blood cells, hemostasis, and coagulation. I learned how to use specialized equipment for conducting hematological studies and interpreting the results. The stages of practice in the biochemical and immunoserology department turned out to be very interesting.
I want to express my special gratitude to the teachers and curators, who were extremely friendly and open to communication. They were willing to teach us, answer any questions, and help us with all the difficulties we met during internship. Their professionalism, patience, and support created an extremely comfortable atmosphere for learning and working."
