International cooperation in the scientific field is of crucial importance for the Zaporizhzhia State Medical and Pharmaceutical University, as it enables our scientists to gain experience in leading research centers, which can then be successfully implemented at the university.
One such successful example is the scientific internship of the associate professor of the Department of Physicocolloid Chemistry, Doctor of Pharmaceutical Sciences Boris Varynskyi at the Helmholtz Center (Munich, Germany) in the Group of Genetics and Cell Engineering. The research carried out by this group is funded by the German Research Foundation.
The results of research conducted as part of the internship were reflected in scientific publications. It is noteworthy that one of them - Fatty acid-binding protein 5 is a functional biomarker and indicator of ferroptosis in cerebral hypoxia - was published in the prestigious scientific journal Cell Death & Disease, which is part of the publishing pool of the leader among scientific publishers - Springer Nature.
Another article, Hacking the Lipidome: New Ferroptosis Strategies in Cancer Therapy, was published in Biomedicines by MDPI, the largest publisher of open-access scientific journals. MDPI is the largest publisher of open-access journals in the world and the fifth-largest publisher by volume of articles. Thus, the legacy of scientific publications of ZSMPhU scientists was extended with two high-quality articles in high-quartile journals.
