Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of India Visits ZSMPhU

Shri Harsh Kumar Jain, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of India to Ukraine, visited Zaporizhzhia State Medical and Pharmaceutical University.

As part of the visit, Harsh Kumar Jain met with Professor Yuriy Kolesnyk, Acting Rector of the university, expressed his respect and thanks for the friendly and strong ties that the university maintains with India. Mr. Ambassador noted that he highly appreciates the fact that ZSMPhU was the first in the country (back in 1975) to receive the right to train specialists for the Republic of India, which was certified by the World Health Organization.

Yuriy Kolesnyk and Harsh Kumar Jain discussed important issues of today, in particular, education of foreign students during martial law. The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary sincerely thanked for the support of foreign students from India in this difficult time, for the efforts that were concentrated by the ZSMPhU team headed by Acting Rector Yuriy Kolesnyk and the Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration for the successful and simultaneous evacuation of more than one and a half thousand recruits from India in February 2022. The high-quality organization of the educational process in 2022-2023 was also positively noted, which for Indian students took place in a variety of ways, both online and in a mixed mode, according to mobility or transfer programs.

During the fruitful discussion held at the Indian Cultural Center of ZSMPhU, Mr. Ambassador emphasized that ZSMPhU is a leader among Ukrainian higher education institutions in the level of providing educational services, material and technical equipment, as well as in terms of highly qualified teaching staff.

After the discussion, the guests were given a tour of the university campus to demonstrate the powerful fund of the university: lecture halls, Distance Education Center, Interdepartmental Training Center, OSCE Center, Scientific and Educational Library and much more.

At the end of the visit, they discussed opportunities for further cooperation, options for organizing training in a safer area, exciting issues of coordination and improvement of training programs with the Medical Council of India, and promising directions for recruiting and attracting foreign applicants from India.
